The Wrath of Benny Hill

"Noble Experiment, But..."

date: January 25, 2007

Sorry, amigo, I was tuning into the first tune, and then it switched on me... It's like you're dancing with a girl, it's nice and slow, and you're closing in on each other... and then some clown turns the tune into the Mexican Hat Dance. Didn't work for me.

Graphics were pretty meh. The jet fighter pick 'n flick was funny, but that was about it.

You are trying, though, and that's what stopped me from blamming. Keep working and try again.

Author's Response:

Ah. My favorite kind of review! Insightful, proper mechanics, a LOL analogy, and you don't act like you're God. Now for my response!

Thank you for this review. It made me laugh. If you wanted to see the actual movie (without the goofy soundtrack), it's under my other submiddions (Wrath of Dicey). Thanks, and have a nice day.

This is refreshing amid all the crud, stick figures, and tries at "humor"... and a nice little moral as well. You should be proud. :-)

Unfortunate Present

"Better than coal. ;-)"

This was a pleasant surprise. I thought Santa was gonna get it, but... heh.

I'm glad to see that "Thou Shalt Not Steal" is still in play. Nice twist.

Merry Christmas, and I hope it becomes a happy one for you somehow.

Very cute, simple, and the music had that whirly, off-beat feel to it. This would've rocked back on Nickelodeon in the "silver ball" old-school days.

JESUS - A Tribute

"A flash worthy of Him"

submission: JESUS - A Tribute
date: November 28, 2006

And the reason I didn't review this thing until just NOW...?

Simple. I'm a freakin' IDJIT. u.u;;;

Seriously, I was already sold by your expected treatment of the subject matter, and knew this wasn't going to disappoint... but WOW.

On the plus side, you designed it and planned this flash VERY well stylistically. And the music soundtrack was supreme.

On the minus side, your pictoral drawing of human faces still seems kinda cartoony somehow. It's great with your style and other works, don't get me wrong, but... I still have a tough time thinking of the King of Kings drawn that way.

But I know HE feels great about what you've done. And you've thrown down the gauntlet and challenged other believers out here to proclaim that Truth. That alone is hardcore.

You've just claimed my #1 favorite spot, Pat. Praise Him. And you.

Just when I thought the old days of computer gaming were gone forever... you came up with this old skoo' hardcore bad boy. It hasn't got the next gen console look or sound... and doesn't NEED it. ASCII never looked so great. Enough variety in attacks, but the controls don't scare me off.

And Kenny Loggins music adds one more acronym: FTW. B-D

Crane Game

submission: Crane Game
date: November 24, 2006

It wasn't Fantasia, and it didn't have to be. Simple. To the Point. Made me chuckle. The music matched and sound fit with it perfectly.

Nice video.

(And by the way... those bears cost less to make in China than it does to play the game, pro'lly. >.>;;;)

Author's Response:

Lol, well, he got every one and the machine for a quarter, so that's not to bad of a deal. Anyway, thx for your review.

I'd only seen this once when I reported a stolen flash. Now part of me wishes twits would steal some more so I can play it again.

But JUST part of me... ~_^

New Numa: The Animation

"Bullseye."

date: November 18, 2006

I gotta admit, you cut to the core of the matter in a hurry.

Nicely drawn, and recreated. Having the backup "dancers" do the Offspring's "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" was a bonus I didn't catch the first time.

The things that I woulda wished for, though...

-- Making Gary sound vocally "dumber"? Not the golden rule. -_- q

-- Recreating the vid exactly? Missed some opportunities. If I were any good at Flash, I'd'a have dressed him in the style of the musically self-important. Prince, K-Fed, Milli Vanilli spoofs, anybody? Some totem pole poses with the backup behind him woulda ruled, too.

But the intro was VERY nicely, neatly efficiently executed. Linking the New Numa vid was capital. And "Gary's" summary on the whole thing at the end pretty much said it all.

You scored a 4 from me on the portal, and a 5 in calling a spade a spade.

New Numa

"And THAT'S why CPAs shouldn't make music videos."

submission: New Numa

Well, the video isn't BLAM-worthy at all. But it doesn't carry the same verve or "je ne sais quois" that the original had.

The original was just a guy goofin' 'round in front of a camera. He wasn't worried about getting a big award, or a bazillion web hits, or what have you. In THIS one... he's trying too hard to not try too hard, if you follow. Or not trying enough to be a big goof, or something. It was like they were trying to remake and reheat in the microwave (and package and mass market) the cool junk food somebody cooked up just by slamdunking it in a pot and seeing what they got.

It also got kinda repetitve early on. Not enough variety. And his "band/backup singers" added zippo to the video.

In short, he's gone from in touch with his inner Elvis to his inner Milli Vanilli.

Look, Gary. I'm sure you're a nice guy, and I'd gladly buy you an overpriced coffee and snack cake at any Starbucks if we ever met face to face. And I thank you for the original. But this... sorry, try again.
